My client is a thriving developer-contractor based in Sheffield, specialising in design and build residential developments, primarily city-centre living apartments.

With a reputation for delivering high-quality projects and a growing portfolio, they are seeking a skilled Finance Manager / Financial Controller to join their dynamic team.

As Finance Manager / Financial Controller, you will play a key role in overseeing the financial operations of the business and providing strategic insight to support continued growth.

You’ll work closely with the leadership team and oversee a small, capable financial team, ensuring the company’s financial health and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of the company’s financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
  • Lead and manage the existing financial team, providing guidance, mentoring, and development opportunities
  • Prepare accurate monthly management accounts, financial reports, and analysis for senior leadership
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, including VAT, PAYE, and corporation tax
  • Collaborate with project teams to track development costs and profitability
  • Support funding processes, including liaising with banks and investors
  • Develop and implement robust financial controls, policies, and procedures
  • Provide strategic financial advice to senior management, contributing to decision-making and growth planning

What you will need:

  • A professional accounting qualification with proven post-qualification experience
  • Prior experience in a similar role, ideally within the construction, property development, or related sectors
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop a small team
  • Excellent financial reporting, budgeting, and analytical skills
  • Strong knowledge of financial compliance and regulatory requirements
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to driving continuous improvement
