Senior Design Manager

The Company:

We are working with one of our favourite contractors.
Of the 20 people we have placed in roles with this company in recent years all but 1 are still with the business, most have progressed in to new roles and the vast majority of people we send for interview with this business want to work for them.
They have a very approachable and successful senior management team, secure the overwhelming majority of their projects through negotiation (they are good at what they do and tend to leave their clients pleased with their projects) and although they are one of the largest Construction Groups in the UK they have the feel of a smaller family business where employees are valued and supported.
They are in the middle of a period of sustained growth in the North West of England.
Typical projects are generally constructed for Public and Private Sector clients and are generally either commercial, education, residential or industrial in nature valued to £80 Million.

The Role:

They would now like to recruit a Senior Design Manager to join their highly regarded Regional Design team due to an excellent pipeline of projects due to start on site during 2020.
Specifically, they would like someone to help them to secure and deliver one of a number of significant, Manchester City Centre based projects valued between £15 Million and £80 Million.

Generally, you will be tasked with controlling design activity on projects through the pre-construction and delivery phases.
You will provide advice on design risk and opportunities for value engineering to the commercial, planning, delivery and client teams.
You will be able to develop and present persuasive models.
You will produce, agree and manage realistic design programs.
Once projects are on site you will ensure the delivery team are working to the specifications and you'll typically oversee the work of a Document Controller and an Assistant Design Manager.

You:

You will have worked as a Design Manager / Senior Design Manager on construction projects similar to those mentioned above previously.
You will be based in or be able to commute to the North West of England daily.
Commercially aware with an understanding of value engineering.
You'll be technically savvy and will be able to develop and present persuasive models using Google Sketchup.
Good verbal and written communication skills.

Rewards:

You will get the chance to work on land mark projects in the North West of England.
You will receive a great salary package with extensive benefits.
The opportunity to work with an award winning, forward thinking organisation that have an excellent order book, very low staff turnover and provide an exciting environment in which to work.
They have an excellent career development programme with realistic potential to progress your career : I know this to be true as a number of people I've helped to join their business are now in elevated roles.
