Quantity Surveyor

The Company:

One of the North West's best known contractor/developers who successfully deliver an interesting mix of projects for a varied client base across the North West of England. They are renowned for their excellent training and development programme and their policy of giving their team the opportunity to take on significant levels of responsibility at relatively early stages in their career.
They secure projects through key procurement frameworks, have a good land bank for development work and are able to negotiate a good proportion of their turnover due to good, mutually beneficial relationships with high profile clients.
They spend a good proportion of their time and resources benefiting the communities in which they work.

The Role:

They have a really good pipeline of work due to start on site early to mid 2020 and are consequently looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor in to their commercial team.
They'd like someone to join them within the next couple of months so that they are able to work on projects through pre-construction to have a better understanding of the scheme by the time it hits site.
Typical projects include schools, colleges, industrial units, extra care facilities and healthcare projects.

They require a Quantity Surveyor who is capable of managing projects valued between £5 Million and £10 Million reporting in to a Commercial Manager.
You will work closely with the operations and technical teams to help reach a successful commercial outcome on the project.

General responsibilities will include the following;
Undertake all commercial and contractual requirements on the designated projects in accordance with the company procedures and processes,
Ensuring sound financial performance including profitability, cash flow, and managing risks and opportunities,
Preparation of accurate and detailed monthly cost reports for review with the Commercial Manager,
Good working knowledge of and application of Main Contract and Sub-Contract Forms and Standard Method of Measurement,
Preparing and agreeing Monthly Valuations, including valuing variations and forecast final account,
Appointment of Subcontractors in accordance with Company Procedures, including procurement and account management including valuations, payment notices and agreement of final accounts,
To work closely with Contracts Management to ensure all required site records and correspondence are completed in accordance with the specific Contract requirements and Company Procedures,
Maintain a close working relationship with the client and design team to assist in the success of the project and
Liaise with Contracts Management to review and monitor project costs whilst achieving high standards of quality and health and safety.


Ideally, they would like to recruit a Quantity Surveyor who has previously been commercial lead on £Multi Million building projects in the sectors outlined above. They are open and keen to support you in this role so if you are currently at Intermediate level and looking to progress to this level we'd definitely be keen to chat with you!
You will be based in or be able to commute to the North West of England daily.
You will be IT literate.
Contractually aware with specific knowledge of JCT & NEC Contracts.
