Estimator / Senior Estimator

The Company:

We are working with a leading regional contractor who are now planning the next stage in their development.
Part of a larger Group the civil engineering team typically undertake 'light' civils projects such as roads, groundworks, bridges and hard landscaping for a varied client base of public and private sector clients up to around £6 Million.
They have the capability and accreditation to operate in a wide variety of sectors and have created this role to continue their growth and development.

The Role

They are now keen to recruit an experienced Estimator or Senior Estimator to join their North West regional team. Ideally, they would like to recruit an established Estimator/Senior who has a good knowledge of their markets and the supply chain

Working closely with work winning colleagues you will be responsible for preparing detailed estimates within agreed time constraints in a consistent manner.
You will seek value engineering opportunities to differentiate your bid.
• Examine incoming tenders, providing initial estimate and review contractual specifications.
• Monitor the marketplace regarding inflation, trends and statistics and report your findings
• Liaise with Quantity Surveyors and the Procurement teams regarding procurement trends
• Attend tender launch meetings to review the scheme challenges, win themes and opportunities
• Presentation of tenders at adjudication meetings to senior management outlining risks and opportunities
• Transfer project information to the delivery team to ensure effective handover
• Promote an excellent health and safety culture
• Obtain feedback on tenders and report back at internal reviews
• Seek opportunities for future work through existing and new relationships
• Foster partnering approach with Clients/their representatives and supply chain


You'll have worked in a similar role helping to secure similar projects for a contractor previously.
You'll have a good understanding of the construction process and technologies.
You will be based in or be able to commute to Cheshire daily.
You will be IT literate (ideally with experience using dedicated Estimating software / Microsoft Applications).
