Assistant Quantity Surveyor

The Company:
• We are working with a leading regional main contractor who work mainly with private sector clients building projects across the North West.
• They have enjoyed significant continued growth over the last 10 years and have a great pipeline of work.
• They are cash rich, make above industry average margins, have a fantastic client base and have a really good training and development programme.

The Role:
• They are now in a position to add to their commercial team as they've recently picked up a significant small works contract for one of their main clients and they want to recruit someone to assist the Quantity Surveyor to oversee the commercial elements of this work.
• They require an Assistant Quantity Surveyor capable of juggling a number of smaller projects simultaneously.
• Ongoing support will be provided by the Quantity Surveyor and the rest of the commercial team.
• Following the completion of this initial work you will either focus on some larger value schemes for this client or can transfer to other schemes within the business.

General responsibilities will include the following:
• Through effective cost control you will be tasked with helping to maximise value, minimise liabilities and ensuring safety and quality standards are maintained.
• Undertake commercial and contractual requirements on the designated projects in accordance with the company procedures and processes.
• Ensuring sound financial performance including profitability, cash flow, and managing risks and opportunities.
• Preparation of accurate and detailed monthly cost reports for review with the Commercial team.
• Some working knowledge and application of Main Contract and Sub-Contract Forms and Standard Method of Measurement.
• Helping to prepare and agree Monthly Valuations, including valuing variations and forecasting final accounts.
• Appointment of Subcontractors in accordance with Company Procedures, including procurement and account management including valuations, payment notices and agreement of final accounts.
• To work closely with Contracts Management to ensure all required site records and correspondence are completed in accordance with the specific Contract requirements and Company Procedures.
• Maintain close working relationship with the client and design team to assist in the success of the project.
• Liaise with Site Management to review and monitor project costs whilst achieving high standards of quality and health and safety.

You:
• Ideally, they would like to recruit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor who is carrying out the role as described above for a main contractor or sub-contractor with some contractual knowledge.
• Your head office base is in Manchester, some site visits will be required.
• You will be IT literate : comfortable using MS Office and specifically Excel.
• Good time management and communication skills.
